INTRODUCING A FEW CHARACTERS
|
JOE
TIGER : As his fur and last name clearly show, Joe is a tiger. But do not be alarmed. He’s a peaceful, amiable individual, kind and gentle to little old ladies – a pussycat, really. His only fault might be his huge appetite, but he only ever eat apples ! You may thus safely hang around him, unless you happen to grow on an apple tree… |

BIG
RINO : The rhinoceros. Slightly low-browed, and covered with all sorts of badges and medals (not that there’s any connection between low brows and medals). It’s impossible to know how he got these. At war ? He got turned down by the army. At university? He’s illiterate. For some act of bravery ? He’s as cowardly as can be. Never mind. He’s the only big oaf around that can safely claim to be so highly “distinguished”. |
|
AUGUST
: The crocodile. A poet, and a splendiferous artist if there ever was one. An elevated soul, always ready to get all afire for a glimpse of a female shape, some noble cause or mad caper. Yet he always gets discouraged at the slightest hint of difficulty. In short, a daydreamer; completely harmless, save, perhaps, for great poetry and literature. |
|
MORTIMER
: The rattlesnake, a.k.a. rat-all-snake, because of his inability to stop spouting nonsense. His naiveté is only equalled by his untiring goodwill. Following some prankster’s advice, he once took part in an inter-jungle flat-hand wrestling contest and – failing to realize he had no hands – almost won the trophy. |
|
POTAMUS
: The hippopotamus. A doctor. Highly specialized – but in just about anything. Depending on the cases he meets, acts as psychiatrist, masseur, podiatrist or acupuncturist ; his knowledge in anything medicine-related is null and void, and his self-confidence indestructible. He generally gets surprisingly good results. |
|
THE
BOTTOM-OF-THE-PAGE MAGPIE : Chatty, hammy, full of themselves and moralizing, too ! But they do have an uncommon taste for lousy jokes and feeble puns. Which makes up for a multitude of sins. |
